Attention Taco lovers!!! If you’re near San Diego head straight to Mama Testa Taqueria, located on University Ave. in Hillcrest, San Diego. Since 2004 this place has been serving some of the best tacos ever. They make everything from scratch and have a delicious salsa bar with 8 different authentic flavors to please every different palate. This place is so great that it was featured on an episode of “Throwdown with Bobby Flay”. Mama Testa is actually the first place in San Diego that beat Bobby Flay. It’s definitely worth trying out.
P.S. Mama Testa is most famous for their catfish tacos…so make sure to give it a try!
Here's a quick and simple pasta recipe that is also very tasty.
Conchigle with Tomatoes & Arugula
4 cups dried conchiglie or farfalle
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound ripe cherry tomatoes, halved
3 ounces fresh arugula
salt and freshly ground pepper
freshly shaved parmesan cheese, to serve
1. Bring a large pan of lightly salted water to a boil and cook the pasta until it is al dente.
2. Heat the oil in a pan, add the tomatoes and cook for barely 1 minute. The tomatoes should only just heat through and not disintegrate.
3. Trim the arugula, removing any tough stems. Wash the leaves, drain well, then pat them dry with paper towels.
4. Drain the pasta, return it to the clean pan and add the tomatoes, then the arugula. Carefully stir over the heat to mix and heat through. Season well with salt and pepper. Serve immediately with plenty of parmesan cheese.
And there it is...a tasty and simple pasta.
*Also note that you can use whole grain pasta which is lower in calories.

If you’re in the mood for great Mexican Food, then you absolutely have to go to Joselito’s. With two locations, (Montrose and Tujunga CA.), Joselito’s is a must. Their food is fresh, authentic and just plain delicious. Joselito’s is an overall great place because of its friendly atmosphere and tasty menu. From the chips and salsa to the guacamole dip to the fajitas and margaritas, Joselito’s does it right.
P.S. When (not if) you go, try the Fajitas Chupacabras…it’s a combination of steak, chicken and shrimp fajitas which is just perfect for 2 people. Pure DELICIOUSNESS!!!
Glendale has a new hot spot and it’s called Recess. Recently opened on Brand Blvd., Recess is a great spot for a casual lunch break. If you like places like Alcove, Aroma, and Urth Caffé, then you’ll definitely like Recess…especially if you live in Glendale and want to stay local. Don’t get me wrong, Alcove and Urth Caffé will always be my favorite lunch spots, but Recess is a great substitute when I want to stay in Glendale. What I like about this place is the simple yet modern décor and the menu. Items such as “Scott Rd” and “The Bully” give the menu a playful feel. To my surprise, the food is actually really great so I would definitely recommend stopping in for a bite.
